Students from the great words of Mr. Feeney…which I doubt any of you are aware of. He was a teacher on a sitcom from a few years back titled Boy Meets World. He once said “If you let people's perception of you dictate your behavior you will never grow as a person, but if you leave yourself open to experience despite what others think, then you will learn and grow” It can be a real challenge to not allow what others think of you to impact you in a negative manner. I say let everyone you meet be a teacher to you. You can learn from everyone. Remember to never get too caught up in all the praise you receive and do the same with all the criticism. Both can be extremely helpful in your efforts to improve yourself. Especially with the criticism if received as a growth opportunity. All criticism is not bad. Criticism can make you better. Be open to criticism, welcome it, look for it, ask for it, desire it. It can be your biggest stepping stone to reaching your goals and potential. Surround yourself with people who will invest in you and care about you. Those that are willing to tell you what you need to hear even at the risk of losing your friendship can be invaluable to you and your future self. Steer clear of the impostors that only tell you what you want to hear. As T.D. Jakes says…real friends keep it real. Audit your circle!! I have attached a short clip of T.D. Jakes emphasizing the importance of accepting criticism. Please watch!
