Thanksgiving 21
Good morning Tanks! Rise and shine today! Yes I know it is early in the morning...maybe too early for an all call. Be excited for the day ahead. Next week is Thanksgiving break and we will be in session Monday and Tuesday. No school Wednesday thru Friday. Enjoy the time with your family and friends and be thankful for the blessings and opportunities afforded to us all. Students, this has been on my mind a bit lately and I feel very compelled to share. The cell phone can be a powerful, very powerful tool for your personal development and improvement efforts if utilized properly. Social media can be as well. You will find what you are looking for...if you are looking for drama, negativity, divisiveness, and trouble it can be found. If you are looking for positivity, encouragement, connection, and growth it can be found. Think about what you find yourself drawn to and focused on. Think about it. There is real strength in making good decisions with your time and thoughts. Be selfish with what you allow yourself to be focused on and where and how you spend your time. Here is another thought I was exposed to on social media and would like to share. If you are trying to do your best and improve yourself and get your life in order and your “friends” get in your way that is actually really helpful for you because you have now identified who your friends aren’t. You might think I can’t give them up. Yes you can and yes you should. It will actually be better for you and them. If they are aiming down and they want you going down with them there is nothing about that that is good for them or for you. Choose your friends wisely. It is one of your most important decisions as a child and as an adult. 3 days til Monday!! Carry your own weather!! Hard work works!! Audit your circle!! Be grateful!! Win your day!! Go Tanks!!

All call for 4:00 pm today! Our Vision: By inspiring greatness, all students will realize their worth and potential. Our Mission: At Union-Scioto School District, students will learn, lead and make a difference. Our Motto: Today’s Learners, Tomorrow’s Leaders. Parent/Teacher Conferences next week on Thursday, November 18, 2021. Congratulations to our boys cross country team for finishing 3rd in the State on Saturday along with 2 of our girls for qualifying and competing as well. Corey Schobelock and Gabe Lynch earned All-Ohio and Indy Spetnagel and Briana Nelson finished in the top 50! Once again Unioto was represented at the State level in a very impressive manner. Proud to be a Tank. Nice job coaches and athletes! Congratulations to our boys soccer team for an outstanding season reaching the Final Four for the 2nd time in school history. Great job coaches and athletes. Fantastic season! Our coaches and athletes dominated the awards at the Fall SVC banquet by gobbling up many many awards! These awards were awarded at the banquet but earned over the last 2-3 years. Hard work works. Congratulations to our staff for their commitment and hard work each and every day. Many have little understanding of what it takes to bring it each day as an educator. It is only easy if it isn’t done right. There are no shortcuts to being an exceptional educator and I am proud to serve a staff that recognizes the value of steady and consistent work for the betterment of their craft and influence on our most precious resource - our children and their future. So a big congratulations to our staff for bringing it each day for our students and community. Something you may not know about bringing it each day for others...when you do this you bring it for yourself. It isn’t even up for debate. When you bring it for others you bring it for yourself. It is a relentless and unbreakable reciprocal cycle that creates real greatness. Helping others helps yourself and helping yourself helps others. If you are searching for a real purpose and meaning, I can tell you it is to be found in helping, influencing, and improving the lives of others. Try it today. Give it a try. Have an aim to improve another in some small way to experience the feeling of joy and sense of pride in your efforts and impact. Imagine if each of us took a small step towards focusing on the betterment of others. Thankful and proud we have a staff that brings it each day to help others! 3 days til Monday!! Carry your own weather!! Hard work works!! Audit your circle!! Be grateful!! Win your day!! Go Tanks!!

Soccer Final Four
All call for 4:00 pm today! Our Vision: By inspiring greatness, all students will realize their worth and potential. Our Mission: At Union-Scioto School District, students will learn, lead and make a difference. Our Motto: Today’s Learners, Tomorrow’s Leaders. One more shout out to our band students for their performance last night! Really impressive group of students! Last Blast concert was fantastic! Can’t wait for next marching season! Exciting weekend for our cross country and soccer coaches and players. Boys cross country run at noon and girls run at 1:00pm at Fortress Obetz state meet. Our boys soccer team’s regional final vs Athens is at Zane Trace and the game time is 3:00pm. I have 3 words for our student-athletes...JOB NOT FINISHED! No school next week on Thursday, November 11 in recognition of Veterans’ Day. School will be in session on Friday, November 12. Congratulations to the students that show up everyday with a mindset to be better. Making good decisions. Being a leader. Influencing their friends and others to do the right thing. Leading by example. Not engaging in drama and wasteful activities. Focused on their studies and being on time and putting in the effort and energy to be the best student and person they can be. Listening to their parents and helping around the house. Being trustworthy and respectful. Congratulations for doing your best to win each day and realizing every day is a game. You have to bring it every single day. Every day. Don’t cheat yourself by being satisfied with your accomplishments. Each accomplishment is the next step up. Step up. Step up every single day. The goal is to win as many days as you can. Win the day. Every day is your championship game. You have heard me say this before and I will continue to say it...you are way more than you think. Your future you is counting on you to be super selfish with your time, selfish with your improvement efforts, selfish with who you allow in your life and who you spend your time with. Understand this is the time it is ok to be selfish. Demand yourself to be better and be loyal to yourself. Follow through with what you know you need to do. Voluntarily face your weaknesses and barriers and start where you can start. Pick one or two things you know you can improve on and things you will actually do. Actually do. And start. Small wins each day over a series of days, weeks and months. Just imagine who you could be if you truly strived towards being better. So proud of the students that are winning their days. It is easy to be average or mediocre. Real easy actually. Just ask TD Jakes as he says If you want to be mediocre and just fit in then dress like them, walk like them, act like them, go where they go, think like they think, do what they do, and neutralize your uniqueness and you won’t need courage. It takes courage to be different, it takes courage to be successful, it takes courage to win. People don’t talk about people that don’t win. If you win they are going to talk about you. Do you have the courage? Win your small wins! Win your day. 3 days til Monday!! Carry your own weather!! Hard work works!! Audit your circle!! Be grateful!! Win your day!! Go Tanks!!
