All call for 4:00 pm today! Our Vision: By inspiring greatness, all students will realize their worth and potential. Our Mission: At Union-Scioto School District, students will learn, lead and make a difference. Our Motto: Today’s Learners, Tomorrow’s Leaders. We apologize for the adjustment in bus routes but as announced earlier you can expect this to be an ongoing issue. We will do our best to communicate to families as soon as possible. I would add we are accepting applications for bus drivers. If anyone is interested, please contact me directly or our transportation supervisor, Shawn Ost at 773-6031 or email at sost@gotanks.org. The girls cross country team competed at the Troy Invitational this weekend having a break out race to finish 8th of 25 plus schools in the DI race. They were led by Cameron Walker who finished 3rd of 166 runners with Briana Nelson in 12th. Gwyn Eldridge was in with a time of 21:11 and then Ava Rooker with a time of 22:17. Shyla Rinehart rounded out the top 5 with a time of 23:37. Ava Fyffe also ran a MASSIVE PR with 24:47. The boys cross country team also competed in the Troy Twilight this weekend and came home as the team champions in the most competitive section. They nearly doubled up state DIII number 5th ranked Botkins who were runners-up. The team was led by Seth Ogan in 7th place of 229 runners. Ashton Beverly not too far behind in 12th and Turner Markko 17th and Caden Larue 19th. Rounding out our top 5 was Rowen Lloyd in 27th place, Zack Wallace was 32nd and Eli Peck rounded out the varsity in 17:12. The boys are ranked second in Ohio this week in the AP/Coaches Poll. Congrats to our golf team for winning the SVC once again! Great job golfers and coaches. Several activities/events this weekend with our homecoming game tomorrow vs Adena followed by Saturday’s homecoming dance. Also on Saturday our XC team will be competing at Rio Grande, JV football will be away at Adena, and boys and girls soccer will be at Circleville. No school this Friday, September 23, 2022 for students due to staff participating in professional development. No school this Friday. Enjoy the extended weekend! Students: I read a brief article recently that posited that one possibility for people not bringing their best each day is because they may lack confidence in themselves and their abilities. I have to admit this really struck me hard and literally opened my perspective to some degree. The idea that people wouldn’t aspire to be the best they can be because they view themselves as less, or shameful of their deficiencies or weaknesses, and lack confidence is real. It also reminded me of the concept that a person can be in a really bad place. I don’t know if anyone is ever immune from experiencing this. It is ok and it will probably happen; it is ok to not be in a very good place as long as if what you are trying to do with that not so good place is to make it better. Even when you are in a good place, if you are moving upward and making it better, that is better. But make no mistake, life is hard. Being a child is hard. Being a student is hard. Being a person is hard. As you have heard me say before, tough situations and experiences make you tougher. See challenges as opportunities. Obstacles comes before opportunities in the dictionary and that is not on accident. I argue they are the same thing. I encourage you to voluntarily accept challenges as opportunities to strengthen yourself. This simple shift in your mindset could have a profound impact on how you approach and experience life each and every day. Don’t be too hard on yourself and be thankful and proud of the smallest of improvements. You cannot underestimate the value of incremental progress. So, students I encourage you to set an aim to bring your very best everyday. You can do it. Maybe not everyday to start, but you can at least start. Any improvement, no matter how little is of value. Parents: I know you know this - you cannot underestimate the power of encouragement. Even the smallest bit of encouragement can go way beyond your expected impact. And it is easy to find reasons to encourage. Look for those opportunities to encourage and support our students, your children. There should be no doubt that we believe in who they can become. So, when they encounter the challenges and experience the bad places they will be more prepared and equipped to meet them with strength and confidence. Go Tanks!

Our Mission: At Union-Scioto School District, students will learn, lead and make a difference. Our Motto: Today’s Learners, Tomorrow’s Leaders. I will repeat my announcement from earlier in the week as it relates to bussing for our district. Due to a shortage of bus drivers and other related transportation issues we will be adjusting our morning and afternoon routes to attempt to best accommodate our students and families and continue to provide transportation to as many routes as possible. Busing students can expect an approximate 10 minute later pick up in the mornings starting next week on Tuesday, September 6. Please continue to be patient and understanding as we work through these new challenges as best we can. You can expect changes and adjustments and traffic flow challenges particularly in the mornings. You can expect some to be last minute and we will do our best to communicate as timely as feasibly possible. I would add we are accepting applications for full time and substitute bus drivers.
